A smartphone platform by Microsoft. With this new platform Microsoft is on a tough battle against Apple iOS & the most popular Android platform. But being in progress, it has few restrictions which can be neglected since these are gonna get corrected by updates.

Touch response is found to be quite good compared to android 2.2, HP web OS, RIM QNX   playbook OS, Apple iOS.

Home screen has a ‘tiled’ interface, with each tile being sufficiently larger for better view. With its live feature, each tile displays latest information and updates, without the application being opened, so that user gets handful information in less time about the recent mail, Facebook activities etc., you can also create a  tile of your favourite application in home screen.

This platform groups related content under six hubs, they are: - People, Music, pictures, games, marketplace & office.

The on-screen keypad is quite good with the auto-correction feature which proves to be an assist to a busy person.

Microsoft provided Zune player interface to its media player which is a plus point since there is no lag in scrolling through the media list and is friendly& famous one.

For gamers it provides Xbox live feature which is superb. But the list of free games available is limited.

For business persons it comes loaded with office softwares with an ability to view all types of documents, editing and managing them. The ‘One Note’, a note taking application benefits you, allowing to attach photos or recorded audio clips. Also these can be synced to windows live account so that it can be accessed from anywhere.

But considering the fact about apps, Microsoft lags behind Android which has apps flooded in market which now is becoming a key feature for its increasing value.

The interface too here is a fixed one and it can be rarely customized.

The default search engine is ‘Microsoft Bing’ and GPS too is associated with Bing maps. Installing a new version of Google’s search engine too is not supported. Even if you encounter a google app it may be an old version.

In coming days Microsoft is sure to bring a lot of changes and make it still more user friendly with updates. Hope Microsoft’s windows phone 7 platform gains huge support and gives a tough fight to its opposition in coming days.
