RADEON was a ruling creator of these flagship graphic cards. But now with NVIDIA building a strong base, the battle is getting tougher.

The RADEON HD 5970 was the only other fastest –dual GPU card which ruled the minds of gamers till it launched its latest dual GPU card- the HD 6990. This card is based on two Cayman XT GPU’s. It was previously seen in HD 6970. Hence HD 6990 can be said to have two HD 6970’s & has twice the transistors, shader processors & raster operators. There is a multi GPU bridge. The HD 6990 has a BIOS switch beside the Crossfire X connector which allows to operate card in factory mode at 830 M Hz (core clock) in position 1 & at 880 M Hz in unlocked mode in 2^nd position.

It is 12-inch long and has two 8 pin power connectors. It is back plated & has centrally located fan with vapour chamber for cooling both GPU’s. it is priced at about 48,000.
